General properties of P.T.F.E. :
The properties of P.T.F.E (C2 F4)n, goes this material
superior than all other plastics, recommending its uses in
many different applications precluded to other materials,
the most outstanding of these characteristics are:
·
Extremely high chemical inertness.
·
Extremely heat and cold resistance.
·
Extremely dielectric properties.
·
No hygroscopicity and high resistance to solvents.
·
Excellent ageing resistance.
·
Good sled-lubrication and anti-stick properties.
Chemical characteristics:
P.T.F.E. possesses a high inertness towards all known
chemicals, and is insoluble in all solvents up to
temperatures as high as 300C (572F).
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:
Generally speaking, P.T.F.E. is a flexible material, endowed
with fair tensile strength and high elongation at break.
The outstanding characteristics of P.T.F.E., among all
polymeric materials, is represented by the wide temperature
range (+200°C -200°C) over which its mechanical properties
remain unaltered.
ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES:
P.T.F.E. possesses exceptional and constant electrical
properties during temperatures range from 100°C up to 300°C and
at frequencies up to 10 cycles.
RESISTANCE TO AGEING AND WEATHERING:
P.T.F.E. thanks its high chemical stability, stands up well
to aging effects, in long term aging tests, the sample
exposed to different weathering conditions for years showed
no weight loss. |
